Baby Watch 2006 - Part Deux

Well, here we are, 38 1/2 weeks. Chris is bugging me to pack a bag. eh - whatever. I'll get around to it. I don't want it sitting there staring at me saying "is today the day?" "is today the day?" I figure, if the average length of labor is somewhere in the range of 12-18 hours, I'll have PLENTY of time to pack some socks and shampoo before we head out. Plus, it will give us something to do and concentrate on other than "The baby is coming!!!" So, the bag remains empty. ha. :)

Had another doctor appt today... but not before Chris' work held a baby shower for us. I wasn't really looking forward to meeting all these people for the first time at 9 1/2 months pregnant but we ended up having a really good time. He has some great, and some strange, co-workers. They all complimented me and told me that I was "sooooo cute"... and I of course was my usual, charming, witty self. lol

Now, on to the good part. WE HAVE PROGRESS! First, I tested negative for GBS, some weird thing that pregnant women can have and if you are positive, they have to hook you up to IV antibiotics during labor. But, we need not worry about that.... cause I ain't got it!

Second, I am 1.5 cm dilated, 50% effaced & soft, baby is at -3 station, and I am having frequent & strong braxton hicks contractions. Doc also guesstimates that she weighs around 7lbs - maybe a smidge more - at this point. But, by only feeling my tummy, it's a pretty rough guess. While we don't know the exact date baby will make her apearance, we do know that it will be no later than April 15th. We have scheduled that as an induction date just in case she decides to cook a bit more.

Here's to hoping the timer goes off soon! :)

Belly Watch 2006

Folks, we've hit a milestone. The baby is "well done". Meaning, we are officially full-term and ready to pop at anytime! YAY! According to the latest ultrasound, SHE is still a SHE (thank god - or else we would have a cross-dressing son... I'm NOT giving up all the cute little dresses!), and is head-down, ready to launch.

The waiting begins. It could be anyday now... although I'll probably be overdue as most first-timers are. darn. So, I have two predictions. If she's early, I think it will be March 28th. If she's late, I'm going for April 10th. Let's all think happy thoughts and shoot for the first one - k? Most of my clothes don't fit me anymore as it is and if I have to grow for another month, I'll be wearing a bedsheet to the hospital. Seriously.

But, (this is a sad confession) I guess I'm not really THAT big. I mean - I'm HUGE for me, but there are bigger pregnant women. Last week when we went to our birth class, I was all worried that I was going to the biggest manatee there cause I'm so far along and wasn't really looking forward to that. but, when we got there, to my surprise - I was the smallest! AND the furthest along!

Hip-hip - HOOOOOO RAAAAYYYY!!
Hip-hip - HOOOOOO RAAAAYYYY!!
Hip-hip - HOOOOOO RAAAAYYYY!!

It really is the small things in life that make us happy. :)
